PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Tēnā koutou kātoa,
Here we are a mere four school days left this term ... and these are just some of the things we have to work through:
* a public holiday on Monday
* the start of daylight saving
* sending out our GMS team of 26 runners going to the Hawkes Bay Cross-country championships on Tuesday
* starting preparations for the opening of our BRAND new school hall before the end of October
* some more rain being forecast ...!
This has been another great term with our students doing extremely well in so many different ways. Thanks to all the dedicated staff and community members who constantly support of our tamariki.
Budding artists - make sure to enter the GMS Drawing competition which will be a great way to fill in time over the holiday break.

Read below about the BIG push we need to get us into a winning position ... only one week left. We need more caps - and before next Thursday!
Finally our thoughts are with Mrs Millner as her mother passed away earlier this week. We send our deepest condolences to Shona and all her whanau for their loss.
All the best for a relaxing long weekend and safe and happy holiday break ahead.
Ka kite anō,
Mark Johnson
Principal

ENROLMENTS FOR 2023
We are now right into our planning for next year.
It is really important that we have as clear an indication of new enrolment numbers as possible.
If you have a child who is going to turn five at any stage next year and they are going to attend Greenmeadows School, please let us know as soon as possible.
This also applies to any relatives, neighbours or friends you may have who live in our zone and wish for their children to come to our wonderful school.
Even if you think we may already know, there is no harm in telling us (again).
You can either phone the school or email Sara at saraa@gms.school.nz
Many thanks for your help.
PUBLIC HOLIDAY - MONDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER - SCHOOL CLOSED
As I'm sure you are all well aware ... school will be closed next Monday the 26th September for a one off public holiday to mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
When we return on Tuesday, we will only have 4 days to go till the school holidays!!
PARKING AROUND OUR SCHOOL AT PICK UP & DROP OFF TIMES
We have been contacted by neighbours on Gloucester Street and Osier Road about the number of vehicles parking outside their property. Parents/caregivers are parking on the marked yellow lines, over neighbouring properties driveways and on the bus stops. Please respect the road markings and ensure you're parked legally around the school when picking up and dropping off your children.
We ask that you don't take short cuts that mean you break traffic rules - it reflects poorly on us as a school. We accept that there is congestion at times ... but please practise safe traffic habits. I ask that you accept that sometimes there might just be a short walk involved to collect your child, but surely that is better than someone being hurt or seriously injured.
TERM DATES 2023
The Board at its meeting on Wednesday night confirmed the term dates for next year.
School will start on Tuesday 7th February and the last day of the year will be pushed out to the 20th December.
We have delayed the start of the school year by a few days to align with the completion of the new Administration block.
WELCOME TO OUR NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Our new Board members took office on Wednesday 14th September. Ryan Hambleton was re-elected and at our board meeting on Tuesday night was re-appointed to the position of Chairperson.
Cherize Enslin and Chris Siebert were the other two successful candidates - Welcome!
TARADALE INTERMEDIATE ENROLMENTS FOR 2023
The Taradale Intermediate School Board invites applications from parents who wish to enrol their children at Taradale Intermediate for next year.
Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available from the school website. https://www.taradaleint.school.nz/2023-learn-with-us-ako/2023-enrolments
The deadline for receipt of applications for out-of-zone places is 28th September.
Parents of students who live within the home zone should also apply by this date to assist the school to plan appropriately for next year.
The board has determined that there are a number of places are likely to be available for out-of-zone students next year. The exact number of places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the school’s home zone.
