Greenmeadows School 9th September 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Tēnā koutou kātoa,
Mālō e lelei
Sunday 4th – Saturday 10th September 2022 is Uike Kātoanga'i 'o e Lea Faka-Tonga, Tongan Language Week.
Our school has been involved in a wide range of activities over the past couple of weeks.
Six teams from our school took part in the Strictly Jump Jam competition on 28th August in Hawkes Bay and two were first in their grades and two more were second - incredible! We had planned to have a display from all the teams yesterday, but the freezing southerly blast does not make sitting under He Kapua a pleasant experience ... so we delayed it to a date in the future. We shall let you know when this may happen.
We had success with our senior maths students taking part in the Mathletics competition last Thursday night. One team of Daniel Yang, Stephanie Chandra and Jack Duncan finished in 9th place from a total of 16 teams representing seven schools. The other trio of Jiah Pinto, Lee Ann Langenhoven and James McLean won the entire event! Ka pai!!!
The Spooner Shield was fiercely contested for on Friday 2 September by eight schools. GMS finished in 2nd equal position with 120 points along with Taradale Primary. Porritt School took the Shield away as they finished with 124 points - such an even competition!
Our boys football excelled and won the trophy for winning their competition. The GMS rugby team finished first equal with Porritt. Both teams couldn't be separated after playing a 5-5 draw.
The Hazel Gillies Shield is the combined points tally for the Year 5 and 6 netball sides. The GMS teams played some excellent games and finished third.
Our girls football team also placed in third and the hockey team were awarded the Fairplay award for their tournament. Outstanding!
Thanks to the team coaches, all the supporting parents and the other schools we competed against.
Ka kite anō,
Mark Johnson
Principal

YEAR 6 STUDENTS - 2023
The Taradale Intermediate School board invites applications from parents who wish to enrol their children at Taradale Intermediate for next year.
Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available from the school website.
The deadline for receipt of applications for out-of-zone places is 28th September.
Parents of students who live within the home zone should also apply by this date to assist the school to plan appropriately for next year.
The board has determined that there are a number of places are likely to be available for out-of-zone students next year. The exact number of places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the school’s home zone.
