Newsletter - Week 1, Term 2
Greenmeadows School 3 May 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Tēnā koutou kātoa,
Here is hoping this term is something a little more normal. It is great to see everyone back here at school refreshed after the break and raring to go!
We have made a number of decisions about how to try and manage the health risks linked to the spread of COVID-19 as well as following the current health advice.
While the mask mandate has been removed from schools, we are strongly encouraging students and staff to wear masks while at school in indoor settings. From the information we have received just under half of the student and staff population have been identified as testing positive over the past two months. This means that there could be up to 300 people directly linked to school who have not been infected by the virus to this point in time ... a reason to not relax too much at this stage.
At least the weather is being kind to us and allowing us time to enjoy the warmth outside.
We will revert to fortnightly newsletters for this term ... unless there is a significant change to the health status of our school .
Have a great week!
Ka kite anō,
Mark Johnson
Principal

REVIEW OF COVID PROTOCOLS AT SCHOOL
* Mask wearing is to be strongly encouraged for staff and students when indoors (and outdoors if the individual wants to)
* There is no requirement to wear masks when outside at school. This includes sports/PE and outdoor gatherings, including under He Kapua
* We will not restrict parents in the outdoor spaces around our school
* Parents are now able to visit classrooms and see teachers.
1. We request that they wear a mask when inside the room
2. Any visits take no longer than 15 minutes
* Students not to enter the school site until the 8.30am bell has rung. The exception is if raining, children will be invited onto the sheltered deck area between Room 2b and Room 4.
* We will continue with the release times of 2.50pm (for Kōwhai students and older siblings) and 3.00pm bell departures for the remaining Pohutukawa and Tōtara students.
* Full school assembly resumes this coming week, Week 1 Friday under 'He Kapua' starting at 12.15pm
Any questions or queries feel free to contact the office or your child's teacher. Hopefully this helps us move forward as healthily as we can.
