Newsletter - Week 2 Term 1
Greenmeadows School 11 February 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Tēnā koutou katoa,
Our second newsletter of the year ... and I am thrilled to say that the children (and staff) have responded so positively to the environment here at school. Our students Year 4 to 6 are coping with the mask wearing mandate beautifully despite the heat.
Thanks to the community for all the support and positive messages we have received. We know dropping your children at the gate is not the preference and our teachers really miss the opportunity to interact freely with parents and whānau. However we are taking this stance to limit the numbers of potential close contacts if/when the COVID virus is found within the Greenmeadows School community.
It has been so heartening to see how the Te Mata School community in Havelock North reacted to the news there were four cases in their school, and have since seen no increase in that number. A great effort by that kura.
Ka kite anō,
Mark Johnson
Principal

RESIGNATION OF MRS KIM COOK
During the holiday break our school librarian made the decision to resign from her position. Kim has worked in our school since 2008. She was initially employed as a Teacher Aide, and then in 2013 became the school librarian. Her leadership of the library has allowed us to meet the vision we set for the school's library back in 2013. And the Greenmeadows School library is a wonderful resource as a result of this.
She has also been responsible for nurturing and engendering a love of reading for so many children. Kim has been an exceptional librarian and we have been very fortunate to have her as a member of our team.
