ANZAC Day Ceremony
Children will be given a poppy if they wish and are asked to bring a gold coin donation to give to the Greendale Services Association. Children can also bring a flower or small bouquet to place in our field of remembrance on Friday morning as they enter into He Kapua for the ceremony.
We start at 12.15pm.
Reminder - Change of bell times at end of school day
2.50pm - We will release the Kōwhai classes (Years 1 and 2) along with any older siblings.
3.00pm - We will release all remaining pupils - Years 3 to 6.
The ten minute gap between the two end of day times should allow for the vehicles to depart and car parks become free for older children pick ups.
We will review this by Queen's Birthday weekend in terms of effectiveness, and more importantly, the safety of your children.
Free Hawkes Basketball tickets - Saturday 8 May 7.30pm
We will give these to the first twenty names to be drawn of those who have either brought a signed note from home, or sent an email to admin@gms.school.nz by Friday 7 April 12.00pm.

We are collecting food items on behalf of the Napier Foodbank to help them restock their shelves with donations of non perishable items.
Any donations can be sent to school prior to collection day on Tuesday 18th May, we will have a collection box in the school office.
The Foodbank have sent a special request for the following items which they have a real shortage of:- tinned fish, pasta sauces, canned spaghetti, baked beans, pasta, jams, spreads and canned vegetables.
Yummy’ School Sticker Promotion
What is it?
Our school has been registered in the 2021 Yummy Sticker Promotion. The Yummy stickers collected will be converted into a winning share of the $200,000 sports prize pool from 'DG Sport'.
What to do?
Shop at your local New World, Pak’n'Save and participating Four Square stores. Purchase Yummy apples, either bags with:
* individual apples with Yummy stickers
* cut-out labels (one cut-out label is worth 10 apple stickers).
Send the stickers into school to be placed on collection sheets in each class. However, if you would like your own collection sheet for home, please collect one from the school office.
What will happen?
At the end of Term 3 all collection sheets will be collated and sent off to the promoters and we will then be contacted to let us know how much we have to spend on sports equipment. Collection day will be Monday 27 September 2021.
The more we collect, the more sports gear we can order, so get going and start collecting your Yummy cut-out labels and stickers! It would be great if we could all get behind this and collect as many stickers as possible.

Ōtātara/Taradale Whānau Hui - Resilience "How do we as teachers, parents, and the community support and ensure our students/children are resilient?"
Greenmeadows School is part of the Ōtātara Kāhui Ako. This is based around the schools and early childhood centres in the Taradale/Greenmeadows area.
The Kāhui Ako invite teachers, staff, parents, and extended family from all schools to a presentation on 'resilience' delivered by Edmond Otis, Wednesday 12 May Taradale High School, 6.00-7.00pm in the school hall.
Edmond is a certified counsellor who is employed by Health Hawkes Bay, who has been delivering in-school workshops to help youth develop strategies when dealing with change.
