On Thursday 11 June Greenmeadows School held a workshop for parents to look at ways of supporting their children develop skills in reading. Included in the evening were:
- a presentation by Rita Palmer, a teacher professional development trainer who is working with Greenmeadows School during 2009
- an outline of the most popular books for children by Jackie from Paper Plus, Napier
- an example of reading instruction by Catherine Webster, a teacher at Greenmeadows School
A number of children attended this evening as well. They were read to by children's author Yvonne Marshall.
It was a very informative evening. Our PTA also helped prepare for the workshop by cooking sausages for everyone to save families having to get dinner ready.
